Christian Awe Vita
Christian Awe lives and works in Berlin. He studied at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he was a student of Georg Baselitz until 2005 and a master student of Daniel Richter in 2006. Awe draws inspiration from urban, vibrant life and people in metropolises such as Berlin, Ouagadougou or New York to create his artworks. Color is life energy and passion for Awe. His filigree handling of light, space, and perspective testifies to a pronounced spirit of exploration, constantly exploring the boundaries of painting anew.
His complex "pattern paintings" consist of up to fifteen superimposed layers. In his series of "Water Pictures," on the other hand, real drops seem to wet the painting surface. Here, the boundaries between imagination and reality blur in a masterful play of light and shadow. Awe's works invite the viewer to embark on a journey of the senses and to behold and sense something new again and again.
The artworks are characterized by a gestural and organic formal language that emerges from a dynamic interplay of spontaneity, experimentation and artistic calculation.
